Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account using an authenticator app.

Why use 2FA

With 2FA enabled, signing in requires both your password and a 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Even if someone gets your password, they cannot access your account without your phone.

💡Vanish uses TOTP (Time-based One-Time Passwords) — the same standard used by Google, GitHub, and most major platforms. No phone number required.

Supported authenticator apps

  • Google Authenticator (iOS & Android)
  • Authy (iOS, Android, desktop)
  • Bitwarden (iOS, Android, browser)
  • Any TOTP-compatible app

Setting up 2FA

1

During signup

After saving your seed phrase, you'll be offered to set up 2FA. Tap "Set up 2FA" to continue.
2

Scan the QR code

Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code shown. Alternatively enter the manual code displayed below the QR.
3

Enter the verification code

Type the 6-digit code from your authenticator app to confirm setup.

Managing 2FA in settings

You can enable or disable 2FA at any time from Settings → Security. Disabling 2FA requires entering your current authentication code to confirm.

⚠️If you lose access to your authenticator app and cannot sign in, you can recover your account using your seed phrase.
